I had to change to wooden slats for my new mattress. The hardwood slats work really well with the mattress.

Perfect slats

I would use these over the sprung slats. You really need to know what type of mattress you have before committing to the slats. I find the sprung slats to be much too flexible and sags under weight when using a standard 8” high low profile pocket coil mattress. The spacing of these are fine. Not too far apart like some slats today. But I question the use of plywood. Plywood is stiff. However, it’s heavy, but more importantly cut and unfinished plywood edges splinter and chip very easily. Your mattress will pick up those bits over time unless you place a bunkie board or a thick moving blanket between the slats and the mattress. Not an issue if you don’t have a two sided flippable mattress. I do. Just make the slats out of quality sanded pine or spruce rather than plywood. Don’t need to reinvent the wheel.

When you need more support

This is for a guest room so I have not used it. That’s why I gave 4 stars. Easy to put together. Delivery was quick.

The king slats were straight. No problems. Most of the queen bed slats however were slightly bent. You hear a squeaky sound every time you use the bed. I am disappointed in the inconsistency in terms of quality.
